The Eugene Ballet Company, under the direction of Artistic Director Toni Pimble, returns to Walla Walla for two performances of Tchaikovsky's beloved holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, with the Walla Walla Symphony.

Did you know?

  • The Nutcracker premiered on December 18, 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia, but the first full-length performance in the United States didn’t happen until 1944 by the San Francisco Ballet.

  • Tchaikovsky didn’t think the music for The Nutcracker was as good as the music he wrote for his earlier ballet The Sleeping Beauty.

  • In Russia, the leading character Clara is known as Marie.
